STATEN ISLAND, NY – What’s punk rock got to do with mini golf?
Head to Maker Park in Stapleton this weekend and find out.
Marker Park Radio’s Tom Ferrie gave “The Wanderers” a tour of the punk rock mini-golf course that will be in full swing this weekend.
Individual holes honor rock icons like The Clash, Patti Smith and The Ramones, as well as black punk pioneers Bad Brains and trailblazers like X-Ray Spex’s Poly Styrene.
Oh, and be sure to check out the final hole of the nine-hole course, which features a replica of the infamously gnarled, graffiti-splattered toilets at the legendary CBGB nightclub, hailed as the birthplace of American punk rock.
The punk rock mini-golf continues this Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Goddamn Wrecks perform on Fridays while Sean K. Preston takes the Maker Park stage on Saturdays.
There are so many places that make Staten Island unique.
And my Advance colleague Mark Stein and I are determined to visit them all.
That’s what ‘The Wanderers’ on Facebook Live is all about: the beautiful, unique, spooky and weird places that make Staten Island the best place to live in New York.
We will also go where the news takes us every day, including as it relates to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Tune in around 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and see where we’ll appear.
Or should we go next?
