Enhanced offering gives hospitals the flexibility to automate test sequences from leading vendors into a single test protocol

PALO ALTO, Calif., November 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — HeartVista, a pioneer in AI-assisted MRI solutions, and Siemens Healthineers, a global leader in magnetic resonance (MR), today announced that they have entered into a joint commercial agreement to co-market an integrated offering which brings best-in-class MRI scanner sequences into one automated review protocol. This new product offering will allow customers to combine integrated sequences from HeartVista and native sequences from Siemens Healthineers into their individual clinical practices.

HeartVista’s AI-Guided Acquisition Software Shortens Cardiac MRI (MRI) Exam Times, Simplifies Workflows and Improves Image Consistency Previously has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for use with Siemens Healthineers MRI scanners. The companies have now enhanced the software to aggregate sequences from multiple sources using Access-i, a software interface from Siemens Healthineers that allows integration of third-party devices with Siemens scanners.

Historically in the United States, hospitals have largely underutilized CMRs because they are often complex to perform, immobilize scanners for long periods of time, and the vast majority of clinicians are not trained to conduct them. With HeartVista’s One Click MRI acquisition software, any X-ray technologist can perform a CMR, helping to ensure that patients anywhere in the country can benefit from it.

“HeartVista’s mission is to make MRI accessible to everyone. Despite its obvious benefits, the previous version of our software forced customers to choose between HeartVista’s automated sequences and manual sequences that may be more familiar. On this one base, we have restricted access to the broader market in direct conflict with our mission,” said Itamar Kandel, CEO. “By working closely with Siemens Healthineers and implementing the Access-i interface, we have removed a major barrier to market adoption.”

The CMR is a first line Class I test for the diagnosis of chest pain according to the guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC). The test is considered the “Gold Standard for Cardiac Diagnostics” due to its recommended use in the evaluation of all major heart conditions such as ischemic, valvular, myocardial, pericardial and aortic disease. CMRs are also non-invasive and can be performed without subjecting patients to low levels of radiation.

“HeartVista’s AI-based acquisition software is a valuable addition to our MRI scanners and analysis sequence library,” said Pierre Gall, PhD, Vice President, Magnetic Resonance, Portfolio, Partners & Digital at Siemens Healthineers. “With this robust integrated offering, hospitals can easily select the scanning method that works best for them.”
