Training camp fights are common, especially during joint training between two teams. But for the second day in a row, the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots engaged in what can only be described as a brawl. It got so bad that several players on each side were kicked out of training.
As described by journalists beaten on Twitter, the fight broke out when Patriots defensive end Deatrich Wise made a hard attack on Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey at or near the boundary line. McCaffrey sent the ball to Wise, which sparked a massive brawl between the teams. Ultimately, Wise was ejected along with Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard. Panthers safety Kenny Robinson was also ejected a day after being sent off for a different fight.
Another fight also broke out during a comeback drill, though it’s unclear if the two fights were related.
Just another day at NFL training camps.
Report: Colts TE Drew Ogletree out for season with torn ACL
The Indianapolis Colts will be without tight end Drew Ogletree this season.
Ogletree tore his ACL in training on Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Ogletree fell during a 7v7 drill in training without coming into contact with anyone, and was eventually carried off the pitch, according to the Indianapolis Star. An MRI later revealed the tear, ending his season.
The Colts selected Ogletree in the sixth round of the draft in April at Youngstown State.
“A badass,” Colts coach Frank Reich said. through the star. “When I came to him, he already wanted to step out of the sidelines so the team could play. That kind of stuff is the guy you want.”
